Marzen’s are amber colored lagers with a rich malty sweetness that balances nicely with European noble hops. Traditionally, Marzen’s were brewed in the fall with the freshly harvested grains and hops, and were lagered all winter to be brought out in the Spring to celebrate it not being Winter. This recipe performs best when the brewer is able to control the cooler fermentation temperatures, however the dry yeast strain selected can ferment up into the mid 60’s.
